DTF Instructions for JDM by MBJ Prints

DTF Instructions Guide

At JDM By MBJ, we want every customer to get the best possible results from their DTF (Direct to Film) prints. To make things easier, we include our DTF instruction guide with every order — but we thought it would also be helpful to provide a digital version online for our customers to access anytime.

Whether you’re pressing your first DTF transfer or you’ve been printing for years, following the correct application steps is important to achieve a professional, long-lasting finish.

What You’ll Need

Before applying your DTF transfer, make sure you have:

  • A heat press
  • Clean garment or fabric
  • Flat pressing surface
  • Teflon sheet or baking paper
  • Lint roller (recommended)

Preparing Your Garment

Preparation is one of the most important steps for a clean result.

  1. Remove moisture from the garment by pre-pressing for 5–10 seconds.
  2. Use a lint roller to remove dust, pet hair, or loose fibres.
  3. Ensure the garment is laid flat with no wrinkles or seams interfering with the press area.

DTF Pressing Instructions

Recommended Settings

  • Temperature: 160°C – 180°C
  • Time: 10 seconds
  • Pressure: Medium to Firm (40-80 PSI)

Please note: Press settings can vary depending on your heat press and garment material.

Application Process

  1. Position the DTF transfer onto the garment.
  2. Press using the recommended settings above.
  3. Allow the transfer to cool before peeling.
  4. Slowly peel the film away from the garment.
  5. Cover the design with baking paper or a Teflon sheet and repress for 8 seconds for a softer finish and increased durability.

Washing Instructions

To keep your DTF prints looking fresh and vibrant:

  • Wash garments inside out.
  • Cold wash recommended.
  • Do not use bleach.
  • Avoid harsh detergents.
  • Do not tumble dry.
  • Do not iron.
  • Do not wash within 24 hours of pressing prints.

Following these care instructions will help extend the life of your design and maintain print quality.

Important Information

At JDM By MBJ,  we quality check all DTF transfers before dispatch. However, application results may vary depending on:

  • Heat press quality
  • Incorrect pressure or temperature
  • Garment material
  • User application methods

We always recommend testing settings before large production runs.
